The annual Battle of the Badges fundraiser is set for August 18th beginning at 6pm at the W.S. Scott Auditorium in Arkansas City. This year, the competition will include something new… a dodge ball tournament. Police and firefighters from Arkansas City and Winfield will square off to battle each other as they raise money for cancer research. In the past, competition has included flag football, basketball, and softball. Dodge ball is something entirely new, and along with the new competition, comes some new rules. One big change this year is the fact that everyone is invited to participate… you don’t need to be a fire fighter or a police officer. Organizers are looking for community teams to take part. Teams can register at the Ark City Rec Center. There is a $25 fee. Proceeds will benefit the Shannon Seaton Memorial Fund, which provides grants to area families struggling with cancer. Tickets and registration information are available at the Rec Center, or by calling (620) 442-4300.
