The Cowley County Commission took care of business for both the Youth Services and Community Development Disability Organization at its Tuesday night meeting. The Courier Traveler reports Director of Youth Services Melody Pappan requested that the commission approve an FY17 third-quarter line item adjustment in the department’s budget. By moving $23,500 from the Graduated Sanctions program to the Truancy program and $2,700 from the Administrative Salary line item to each of the three Graduated Sanctions programs, the Youth Services Department will be able to spend state block grant funds instead of local funding. Pappan also requested that commissioners approve the FY block grant planning and budget application. The 2018 block grant allocation is $488,431.07 for Cowley County.
