A new partnership with Wichita Transit is providing bus service to the Creekstone Farms plant in Arkansas City. It’s a long drive for the dozens of workers who carpool to Arkansas City from Wichita. In fact, it’s more than 50 miles from Wichita to Ark City. The new partnership between Creekstone and Wichita Transit is being viewed as a first-of-its-kind partnership. Creekstone is paying $13,000 for the first year of the pilot program… with fares paid out of employee paychecks. The company says so far, they can’t say for sure whether or not it will work, but they believe it will, and until they give it a go, they really won’t know. Creekstone Farms in Arkansas City employs nearly 800 people. The company says the new program will benefit about 60 of them, who commute from Wichita every day. As of right now, the bus can accomodate about 37 of the workers. According to the Courier Traveler, http://www.ctnewsonline.com Wichita City Council approved the pilot project last week.
