The fireworks flew early… before the 4th of July… when the wife of former Winfield police officer Sean Skov called for the firing of Winfield City Manager Jeremy Willmoth at Monday’s Winfield City Commission meeting. The Courier Traveler reports that Rachel Skov said she and her family… along with some other police officers… have have been threatened since a Facebook Live video of a traffic stop conducted by her husband and another officer back in May went viral. Rudy Samuel was pulled over for failing to signal. Officer Skov noticed vegetation in the vehicle which he believed to be marijuana. The officers pulled Samuel from the vehicle, handcuffed him and searched his vehicle. Testing later revealed the substance was not marijuana. The Facebook video sparked allegations about harassment and racial profiling. Skov said her husband performed his job according to the established standards. She said commissioners now need to do their due diligence in the matter.
