The H.L. Snyder Foundation has awarded the City-Cowley County Health Department $2,200 to purchase carbon monoxide breath analyzers that will be used to help people who wish to stop smoking. The health department is developing a stop-smoking program for the county, according to Tom Langer, health department director. Currently no organized area programs focus on helping people stop smoking outside of giving someone card with an 800 number on it. The grant from Snyder Foundation is one step in the process of developing the stop-smoking program, one source of the equipment the program will require.
