A 35-year-old Arkansas City man was taken into custody by Ark City Police, following a domestic incident that led to an armed standoff. Possible charges now, include battery; domestic violence; criminal use of weapons; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of methamphetamine. Those charges, and perhaps others, are now being evaluated by police, who say it all began with a call about a domestic disturbance at 915 South B Street, where a woman wa said to be barricaded in a bathroom, and a man was threatening her with a gun. Police say the man was armed with knives and ammunition, which they were eventually able to get from him. He was placed in handcuffs. They say the man, whose name is not being released at this time, appeared to have some mental issues, so he was taken to South Central Kansas Medical Center for a mental health evaluation, then later transferred to a secure mental health facility. A search of the home turned up rifles, shotguns and handguns, which were all seized, along with drug paraphernalia and substances thought to be methamphetamine. The investigation is continuing.
