The Arkansas City Middle School Kansas Association of Youth, or KAY club as it is often known, received a $6,575 grant to purchase a Fit-Trail system for the Poplar Walking Trail. Fit-Trail is an outdoor exercise system installed along a walking or jogging trail. The system features 10 stations with instructional signage and exercise equipment. The club says the Fit-Trail will be ordered soon and should be installed over the summer by the City of Arkansas City. KAY club members will
help with cleaning and maintenance. The local KAY Club is one of 18 across the state to receive a “Be the Spark” grant… intended to help teens and their communities be more physically active. The program was created last year, as a partnership between Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and the Kansas Association for Youth Alumni Network.
