The Kansas Court of Appeals has upheld a district court ruling, that said a man who accused an Ark City doctor of malpractice after a hernia operation, did not file a timely claim. According to the local newspaper, the court ruled unanimously in favor of Dr. Patrick T. Blatchford, a surgeon for South Central Kansas Medical Center, in the case involving Aaron Nash, of Oxford, who had hernia surgery in January of 2015 and then filed a malpractice lawsuit two years later. The hospital issued a press release on Tuesday, in which Dr. Blatchford called the unanimous ruling a relief. Dr. Blatchford said he has performed 100 to 150 hernia repairs a year for 11 years, and his recurrence rate is between 2 and 3 percent, well within the national average.
