An Arkansas City man has been arrested on felony charges of theft and interference with a law enforcement officer. Ark City Police took 30 year old Ian White into custody. White is also charged with failure to appear on warrants from Winfield Municipal Court. His brush with the law came when officers were called out to the 700 block of North Fifth Street for a report of a person inside a garage. They found no one there at first, but were then directed to a house, where they saw a man leaving the house, carrying several items. That man… later identified as White… refused police commands to stop and walked toward the alley instead. In the alley, another officer identified himself and instructed White to stop, but White… according to that officer… took off running. After a short pursuit, he was taken into custody. Police later determined that a vehicle to which White was trying to flee to, had been stolen. White was locked up in the Cowley County Jail, where he remains today.
