The Arkansas City Commissioners this week, approved the purchase of a new truck. The purchase of the one-ton truck was approved by a 4-1 vote.
This truck will be used by the parks department, which is currently using an older truck that is starting to show wear according to Parks and Facilities director Tony Tapia. When asked if his department could simply borrow trucks from the Public Works Department, Tapia said those trucks are too large, and they leave ruts that the parks department then has to repair. He also said that the larger trucks are too big to use on some of the trails that the parks department maintains.
