Arkansas City Police arrested a Nebraska man in connection with a non-injury traffic accident early in the morning on Christmas Eve. 28 year old Joshua Lee Cox was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence. He was taken to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $750 bond. Cox since has posted bond and been released from jail. It all began when officers responded at 1:12 a.m. Dec. 24 to a traffic accident in the 800 block of South Summit Street. They found that a red 2011 Chevrolet Equinox had been northbound on Summit when it hit a 2004 Mercury that was parked legally on the side of the street. The impact pushed the Mercury into a 2002 Dodge pickup truck, which also was parked legally in front of the Mercury. No injuries were reported. Cox, the driver of the 2011 Chevrolet, was arrested for driving under the influence.
