The American Red Cross is partnering with 9/11 Day to offer individuals a chance to give blood or volunteer their time. The event kicked off back in 2002 as a way to honor the victims and the heros of September 11th, and since then, it has grown into the largest day of charitable engagement in the country, and has in fact, been designated as a National Day of Service and Rememberance by the US Congress back in 2009. Each year tens of millions of people observe the day by performing acts of service and good deeds. Blood donors of all types — especially those with types AB, O negative, A negative and B negative — are needed. Locally, you can donate today from noon to 6Pm at First United Methodist Church in Winfield, and from Noon to 6PM this afternoon at the Central Christian Church in Arkansas City.
