Charges have been filed against an Arkansas City man who was arrested Sunday following an altercation on Saturday. Mitchell Douglas Muninger was already behind bars following his arrest Sunday. His bond was set at $63,500. Muninger was in court Thursday morning to answer to charges of aggravated endangerment of a child, criminal restraint, domestic battery and criminal damage to property. Originally, charges of kidnapping were also considered, but the County Attorney didn’t file that charge. At yesterday’s hearing, Muninger’s attorney requested a bond reduction, on the grounds that Muninger lived in another city, and had no reason to stay in Arkansas City, which would keep him from having contact with the alleged victim. The reduction was granted, and his bond was reduced to $5,000, with a condition that Muninger stay out of Arkansas City except for court and any meetings with his attorney. If found guilty of the charges, he could be facing a long time behind bars, and thousands of dollars in fines. Muninger will be back in court on July 22.
