A suspect who tried to flee on foot, was captured and arrested by a Cowley County Sheriff’s deputy. It began when the deputy pulled over a vehicle at about 2am Sunday on 61st Road, just west of South Central Kansas Medical Center. When the driver, 34 year old Erica Jones of Arkansas City, pulled over, her passenger, 39 year old Harold Branam Jr., jumped out and took off on foot. After a short pursuit, Branam was tackled and taken into custody. He is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with a law enforcement officer, and transporting an open container. Jones meanwhile, was driving with a suspended license, had an illegal tag, and no proof of insurance, so she too was arrested. Both were locked up in the Cowley County Jail, where Jones was held on an $800 bond and Branam on a $5,800 bond.
