Creekstone Farms was found to be not liable in connection with a fatal accident that happened back in July 2013. The case dates back to when Richard Gates, an independent contractor from Blackwell, Oklahoma, died in an accident that happened as he was trying to help move cattle at the Creekstone plant in Arkansas City. His mother, Phyllis Gregory, sued Creekstone… seeking more than $150,000 in damages… claiming that a Creekstone employee caused her son unreasonable risk of injury by allowing him and other cattle truck drivers to assist with moving cattle, and claiming that the receiving pen was dangerous. Creekstone denied the charges. On Thursday, a jury found no fault with either party.
