A Winfield man was charged with second-degree murder and a pair of misdemeanors Monday morning in Cowley County District Court.
The Ark City Traveler reports that 42 year old Timothy Boyd is the man who is accused of shooting and killing 32 year old Derrick Higgins on early New Year’s Day at Hot Shotz in Winfield.
The second-degree murder charge is a severity level-1 person felony subject to a sentence of 147 to 653 months in prison, a fine of up to $300,000 and post-release supervision for 36 months.
Boyd remains in custody at the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
