Burger lovers in Arkansas City could soon be getting it “their way” if a new Burger King restaurant opens, and rumors abound that it will. Bill Sheldon owns the property where the Burger King would be built. A car wash is there now, near the corner of Kansas Avenue and Summit Street. According to the local paper, Sheldon says after meeting with folks from Burger King, he sold his property behind the car wash to them. If all goes according to the still tentative plans, the car wash location will become a new Burger King. A legal notice concerning the property and two others behind the car wash to be rezoned to a general commercial district, which would allow a restaurant to use those properties, has been published in the CourierTraveler. A public hearing on that proposed rezoning is scheduled for 5:30pm on March 12th at City Hall.
