As part of National Work Zone Awareness Week, the Kansas Department of Transportation will be hosting a work zone safety event at the Area Four Office in Topeka. KDOT employees Ted Coleman from Wichita and Kade Cooper from Belleville have both been in close calls in work zones as well KTA employee Kayne Kraus; KHP Superintendent Col. Herman Jones and KDOT State Transportation Engineer Burt Morey… who will also speak. Numerous law enforcement and emergency responders will attend and set up a vehicle display. Speakers will share personal work zone experiences, showing the need for safety in construction and maintenance zones. It’s today in the truck bay area at the KDOT Area Four Office in Topeka. April 8-12 is National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week, a safety campaign designed to bring awareness to the need for safe driving habits in road construction and maintenance zones.
