Three lawsuits filed by a Winfield woman against area businesses have reportedly been settled. The Ark City Traveler says Guadalupe Adams early this year filed six suits against Arkansas City properties, all alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. She filed 24 additional lawsuits against businesses, citing similar ADA compliancy issues, including two businesses in Winfield and two businesses in Arkansas City this summer. And since then, she has filed another 15 lawsuits against businesses in Dodge City, Springfield, Mo., Branson, Mo., Abilene, Wichita and Derby. Adams, who suffers from cerebral palsy and depends upon a wheelchair for mobility, claims the debilitating disease is incurable, non-progressive, chronic and permanent.
