In Winfield, the city commission is kicking off a search for a new City Manager, after the abrupt departure on Monday, of now former Winfield City Manager Jeremy Willmoth. According to a statement released to the local paper by Winfield Mayor Greg Thompson, the interim manager could be someone who is already employed by the city. The commission could also call on consultants to help with hiring a permanent manager, just like what was done back in 2016 when Willmoth was tapped to replace former manager Warren Porter. Willmoth’s resignation came following a short executive session at Monday’s regular city commission meeting. Willmoth did not attend that meeting, and a brief press release issued by the commission said a separation and severance agreement had been reached with Willmoth. The release said the parting was one of “mutual consent.”
