Kudos going out to William Newton Hospital, which just learned it has received a national 5 star rating. The recognition was based on results from the nation’s only standardized patient satisfaction survey. The star ratings, introduced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services make it easier for consumers to choose a hospital and understand the quality of care it delivers. CMS used patient input from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems surveys. which look at performance standards such as how well nurses and doctors communicate with patients, how responsive hospital staff are to patient needs, how clean and quiet hospital environments are and how well patients are prepared for post-hospital settings.
