Winfield City Commissioners met Monday, and voted to approve a sewer improvement project. According to a report today in the local newspaper, the commission voted unanimously…. 3 to 0…. to add the project to the city’s capital improvement plan. It involves the complete replacement of the 4th Avenue lift station at a cost of more than $322,000. The lift station helps transport sewage from the north end of Winfield to the treatment plant in south Winfield. The current lift station is around 60 years old, and in need of some serious work, but it is expected to continue to work as the new one is being built. Bids will be let after the beginning of the new year, with construction planned to begin in the spring. Construction should be completed before the end of 2019.
