A Winfield man was sentenced Thursday afternoon in Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City, to time behind bars, following his guilty plea back in April to possession of methamphetamine. 43 year old Gregory Gentle was arrested in January after he was found in possession of, and with intent to sell, methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended driver’s license (third offense) and no proof of insurance. Gentle was sentenced to 20 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections, 18 months of probation and a post-release supervision term of 12 months. As a term of his parole, he must complete the Cowley County Drug Court program, inpatient treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, and an evaluation with Four County Mental Health. Gentle also must pay $1,913 in miscellaneous court fees, and may not consume alcohol.
