Winfield is getting out of the electric business… well, sort of anyway. Winfield city commissioners have agreed.. by a 3 to 0 vote… to sell a 65-percent interest in the city’s electric transmission facilities to GridLiance High Plains, LLC. They say it will lead to increased revenue for the city and assistance with electric transmission projects. The deal calls for Winfield to get $1.1 million. Winfield will also receive regular community contribution payments and the ability to participate in future transmission projects. The city will continue to be responsible for operations and maintenance of the transmission system.Winfield electric customers will not notice any difference in service or rates. GridLiance and the City of Winfield say they will soon release more details.
