Identity made for deceased person found in Ark City

The Arkansas City Police Department has identified the individual who was found deceased inside a residence in the 400 block of South 10th Street on June 30, 2026, as James Thomas Brown VI. Brown was 38 years old. His next of kin have been notified. Officers were dispatched to the residence at approximately noon on June 30. Officers and investigators responded to the scene, confirmed that one individual was deceased, and began processing the scene as part of an ongoing investigation. The deceased was transported to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center for a medical examination. Investigators determined that Brown did not have an established residence in Arkansas City, which contributed to the time required to confirm his identity. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Brown’s death remains ongoing. At this time, no additional information is being released while investigators continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
