The Winfield Fire Department says fire units were dispatched to a reported structure fire at about 5 a.m. on July 29th, at 8876 111th Road. When they got there, crews found light smoke coming from the attached garage, with flames visible through a rear window of the home. No occupants were inside. The homeowners had successfully evacuated before crews got there. Crews also safely removed the family’s pets from the home. Initial reports indicated that an electric vehicle was on fire inside the garage, but investigators found the electric vehicle was not the cause of the fire, and was not located in the fire area. Investigators determined the fire was accidental in nature. There were no injuries.
