The City of Ark City says we’ve received questions from the community about yard signs, and we’re here to help clarify the rules. Before placing a temporary, business, event, or election sign, make sure the location is safe and permitted. Signs should: ✓ Be placed on private property with the owner’s permission ✓ Be located at least 7 feet back from the curb ✓ Remain outside all public rights-of-way ✓ Follow applicable size and display-time limits ✓ Avoid blocking the view of drivers or pedestrians ✓ Never be attached to trees or utility poles As a general rule, keep the first 7 feet from the curb clear of signs. Public right-of-way boundaries may vary by location, so please contact the City if you are unsure where a sign may be placed.
