Labor Day weekend is a time for gatherings, celebrations and time with family and friends. The Arkansas City Police Department is reminding everyone to make safety part of their plans by driving sober. The Arkansas City Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the country for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, which runs Aug. 23 through Sept. 7. During the campaign, motorists can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence on local roadways focused on keeping impaired drivers off the road. Drunk driving is illegal, dangerous and preventable. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, even a small amount of alcohol can affect a person’s ability to drive safely.
