Governor establishes Kansas Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Day

Governor Laura Kelly today signed Executive Order 26-07, establishing Kansas Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Day, to be observed annually on the first Friday of each May. The first Kansas Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Day will be recognized on Friday, May 4th, 2027. Kansas Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Day will provide an annual opportunity for state agencies, local governments, law enforcement organizations, schools, and citizens to participate in ceremonies and activities honoring officers who have given their lives in service to their communities and to Kansas.In addition, flags will be flown at half-staff across Kansas.
