Construction is set to begin on the F Street Bridge replacement project in Arkansas City’s Sleeth Addition. Kansas Concrete, LLC, of Nickerson, will begin setting up traffic control measures today, along F Street, just north of Tyler Avenue. Removal of the existing bridge over Mill Canal is expected to begin shortly afterward. The project will replace the aging 40-foot steel beam bridge with a new reinforced concrete structure designed to provide a safer, more reliable crossing for motorists. The City Commission awarded the $388,803.80 construction contract to Kansas Concrete in August. The project is funded in part through the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Local Bridge Improvement Program, which will cover 85% of eligible construction and construction engineering costs. The City’s estimated share of the construction contract is approximately $58,321, with additional engineering and other project-related expenses funded locally.
