A U.S. 81 bridge in Sumner County will be replaced during a $1 million project that is expected to begin around July 20.
The bridge being replaced, over Ninnescah River drainage, is on U.S. 81 a little over 3 miles north of the K-55 junction.
During the work, traffic will be diverted onto temporary pavement at the construction site. Motorists should be prepared to slow down when approaching the work zone.
The project is expected to be completed around Thanksgiving, depending on the weather.
The Kansas Department of Transportation is overseeing the work.
Pearson Construction, of Wichita, is the main contractor for the $1,061,618 project.
