A high-profile jury trial in Cowley County has been delayed by COVID-19, and now comes word that others could also be delayed because of the threat of the virus. Marty Anderson’s trial has already been rescheduled twice. Anderson pled not guilty to charges of attempted second-degree murder, rape, kidnapping and other crimes after being accused of shooting his ex-wife and taking her and her two daughters hostage in November 2018. He also pled not guilty to sex crimes allegedly committed against one of his former stepdaughters prior to that hostage incident. Anderson’s trial was originally scheduled for June 2019, but that date was postponed so Anderson could undergo a competency evaluation. The trial was rescheduled for May 2020 but was postponed again due to COVID-19. It has not yet been rescheduled.
