The Arkansas City Community Band continues their historic 150th season Thursday June 24th at 7:30 p.m. at the Wilson Park Rotunda.

According to director Chris VanGilder “We have the largest number of participants in many years and they are playing very well.  We have had good crowds despite the heat and really hope even more folks will come out and enjoy this unique experience.”
This week’s concert features a wide variety of musical selections, including: marches “Them Basses” and “Welcome”; a setting of “America the Beautiful”, the country song “Green, Green Grass of Home”; a medley of American folks songs; three pieces that come from movies: “Wizard of Oz”, “Far and Away” and “Duel of the Fates” from Star Wars, and several other favorites.
The band is gearing up for their special 150th Anniversary Concert on July 15th.  This concert will feature members of the 312th Army Band and the premier of “Americana!” a piece composed for the occasion by former director of the band, Gary Gackstatter.
