The City of Arkansas City is continuing its annual fire hydrant flushing program, with work proceeding across east-central Arkansas City starting this week. The Environmental Services Department has begun flushing Section 5, which contains 86 fire hydrants along and north of East Fifth Avenue, north to East Kansas Avenue, and east of A Street. Flushing will continue in Section 5 through at least June 23. All flushing will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Water customers in this area might experience temporary discoloration or low water pressure during this fire hydrant flushing program.
