Arkansas City Police today, are investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred Monday, ending with the suspect stealing the victim’s car and getting away. It all began with a report of a disturbance in a vehicle northbound from the intersection of 15th Street and Radio Lane Monday, at 4:38PM. Cowley County Emergency Communications got a call about a woman who was injured and out of a vehicle. Whe officers arrived, they learned that a 27-year-old Arkansas City woman… whose name is not being released… had been involved in the disturbance, after which a man took off in her vehicle. The woman was taken to South Central Kansas Medical Center for treatment. Investigators later learned that 35 year old Loengrys Castellanos Mesa of Grand Island, Nebraska, had entered the woman’s van unlawfully and hid there until he attacked her, then fled in her car… a silver Toyota Sienna minivan. An arrest warrant has been issued by Cowley County District Court for Loengrys Castellanos Mesa on suspicion of aggravated battery, aggravated burglary of a motor vehicle, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, battery-domestic violence, criminal threat, stalking and theft. Police now ask anyone with information on Castellanos Mesa’s whereabouts to call them at (620) 441-4444.
