The Arkansas City Community Band will begin their Sesquicentennial season Thursday June 3rd at 7:30pm in the Wilson Park Rotunda. Concert goers are encouraged to bring their own seating.
After a shortened 2020 season, the band will return to their normal 8 concert series. 7 of these on Thursday nights June 3rd through July 15th with one special patriotic concert on Monday July 5th. All concerts will take place in Wilson Park Rotunda.
The July 15th concert will be a celebration of not only the band’s 150th anniversary, but the city’s as well. There will be special guests and fireworks that night.
According to director Chris VanGilder: “Rehearsals have been great. We are really looking forward to putting on our normal concert series and continuing this great tradition.” “You can expect a wide variety of music at our concerts, patriotic music; traditional marches and overtures; folk songs and hymns; broadway and movie themes; a little bit for everyone’s tastes.”
