Monday was the first day back to school in Winfield and Arkansas City. Because all the schools buildings in the state are closed over concerns about the coronavirus, students will be forced to learn from home from now until the end of the school year in mid-May. Most parents so far, say they believe USD 470 has done an excellent job with the distance learning set up and so far, they say the schools have communicated the process very well. On Monday, Winfield families had their online lessons and/or paper packets so the kids could start working on lessons again. Families with access to computers can have their kids work online, but kids without such access can do the lessons on paper. The students will have to send in pictures of the activities to their teachers so the teachers can see that the child understands the work. All students are expected to participate, whether it’s online or on paper.
