Ponca City Mayor, Homer Nicholson, signed a Disaster Emergency Proclamation on Sunday, after a resident of Kay County was diagnosed and potentially spread COVID-19 in Ponca City, with potential to spread illness to the general public. City staff will continue to be in contact with appropriate agencies in light of this decision. All citizens should be aware and help reduce the risk of coronavirus infection by frequently cleaning hands and using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water; When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose; and avoid close contact with anyone that has a fever and cough. Ponca City Manager Craig Stephenson also announced the Senior Center is closed, and Library programming and Parks and Recreation programming are temporarily suspended through Friday, March 27th, including adult sports and fitness classes. However, the RecPlex and Library currently remain open under normal operating hours.
