Don’t let your guard down… Coronavirus is still lurking out there. As proof, take notice that a nursing home worker in Arkansas City tested positive for COVID-19, and a local hair salon is now shut down for two weeks due to potential exposure. The virus continues to spread in Cowley County, and it reached a total of 49 infections on Thursday, with 42 of them still active. Still, that is a small sample… just 1.2 per 1,000 residents, but still above that of Sedgwick County, where it stands at .5 active cases per thousand people. The increase this week in Cowley County includes at least five Rubbermaid workers, and a teenager who swam in Paris Park Pool and then attended a sleepover while awaiting test results. The Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City announced this week that an employee who does not work directly with residents had tested positive. That in turn, led to seven other employees being tested. Four of them tested negative as of yesterday. Results for the other three are expected Monday.
