The low-cost health clinic that serves Cowley County will get a large infusion of emergency funds to help with the COVID-19 crisis. According to the Cowley Traveler, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the Community Health Center in Cowley County with $570,005 as part of the $2 trillion federal relief package passed last month. The latest infusion of cash, comes after an earlier $53,937 the health center received from DHHS to help in the fight against the pandemic. The local clinic was one of 18 community health centers in Kansas to receive a total of $15 million. The local health center operates a clinic in Winfield, with plans to expand into Arkansas City. It employees 21 people, including four primary care providers, and oversees another four contract licensed workers.
