Winfield, KAN (March 16, 2020) – Effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Cowley County will limit citizen access to certain governmental offices within the three main campuses.

Cowley County is dedicated to serving the community and will continue to provide essential services while keeping the safety of employees and the citizens as a top priority. Those offices that are closed to public access will still maintain minimum staffing and can still be reached by phone or by email.

 

Below is a list of each building, department, status and phone number to contact if not open to the public:

North Annex – 320 E. 9th Ave.
City-Cowley County Health Dept – open to the public
Community Corrections/Youth Services – lobby open to clients only (620-221-3454)
Main Courthouse – 311 E. 9th Ave
Administration – closed to public (620-221-5406)
Public Works – closed to public (620-221-5425)
MIS/GIS – closed to public (620-221-5409)Register of Deeds – open to public
County Attorney – closed to public (620-221-5485)
Sheriff’s Office – lobby closed to public (620-221-5444)
Jail – closed to public and no visitation allowed (620-221-5446)
Extension Office – closed to public (620-221-5450)
Register of Deeds – open to public
District Court – refer to their public notice for specific instructions (620-221-5470)
South Annex – 321 E. 10th Ave.
CDDO – closed to public (620-221-5404)
Appraiser – closed to public (620-221-5430)
Clerk – open to public
Treasurer – minimal staffing for essential services
CCEC (Dispatch) – closed to public (620-221-5447)
Emergency Management – closed to public (620-221-0470)

This change will remain in effect through Friday, March 20. This situation will be evaluated and a decision for next week will be made by Sunday, March 22.

Emergency Communications and the Sheriff’s Office will continue to serve the community in their normal capacity and 911 services will not be disrupted.

The regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, March 17 has been cancelled and agenda items will be moved to April 7, 2020.
