The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office says scams in all forms are on the rise. And, with the holidays approaching scams tend to increase. On Facebook, they said even at the Sheriff’s Office they have seen an increase in these types of crimes being reported. To target what they are seeing in the community, Never purchase gift cards to pay for something online. When considering a purchase on the Marketplace or eBay demand to meet with the seller in person to review the item and discuss payment terms. Avoid using your credit/debit card for payment because it links directly to your bank account. If the deal sounds to good to be true, its most likely a scam.
