COWLEY COUNTY, Kan. (July 14, 2021) – The Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF), as part of the CARES Act, provided Cowley County with the opportunity to purchase and distribute Q-Boxes to those adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. While numbers are trending in a positive direction and the infection rate is low, there are still individuals and families in our County that are still feeling the impacts.

Cowley County held the first of several drive-thru distributions in Winfield last week. Staff and volunteers will be in Arkansas City for another event on Friday, July 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (or while supplies last). Boxes will be provided in the parking directly west of the Arkansas City Police Department (south of Central Ave between 1st and 2nd Streets). Anyone that has been affected by COVID that wants a box should enter the parking lot from 2nd Street and will exit the parking lot onto 1st Street. Signs, cones, and personnel will be there to help guide traffic.

Q-Boxes provide basic items such as food and commodities. For a list of items in the box, go to the CRF website at: https://www.cowleycounty.org/departments/Administration/CRF.

“We had an overwhelming response to our first drive, and we hope this one will be as effective for our citizens. The boxes are meant to have a positive impact on our community as we continue to recover from the pandemic,” states Lucas Goff, Cowley County Administrator.
