ELECTION DAY

Today is Primary Election Day. There are several competitive races in our area, starting with Cowley County District 2, where incumbent Bob Voegele faces challenger Gary Wilson in the Republican primary to decide who wins the seat because there is no Democratic candidate. District 2 includes southern Cowley County and south and west Ark City. In Cowley County District 3, three-term incumbent Alan Groom, of Winfield, faces challenger Jim Sybrant, of Ark City in the Republican primary. Like District 2, there is no Democrat running. District 3 includes northern Cowley County, including part of Winfield and northeast Arkansas City. In
Kansas House District 79, there is a Democratic primary with Ken White facing Richard Kautz. The winner will take on GOP incumbent Cheryl Helmer in the general election. Kansas Senate District 14 has incumbent Bruce Givens hoping for a second term. He faces Michael Fagg in the GOP primary. No Democrat is running.
