The Arkansas City Police Department has released results from its recent “You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.” traffic enforcement campaign. “While most people were able to enjoy a safe Labor Day holiday, Police Chief Dan Ward said his officers were working hard to increase traffic safety. During the recent Labor Day traffic enforcement effort, officers worked an extra 60 hours and issued a total of 135 citations. The offenses cited by Arkansas City police included 32 speeding violations, one youth seat belt citation, 28 adult seat belt citations and 74 other violations of various types.
Overtime for the enforcement effort was reimbursed by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
