Those behind the efforts to bring the annual fireworks show ton Arkansas City say fundraising for this year’s event is a little behind and donations are still needed. The drop in donations they say, is most likely due to all the attention right now on COVID-19. But so far, many businesses and individuals have stepped up to help and so far, $7,500 has been raised. While in the past, the fireworks have cost as much as $13,000, this year they hope to keep it at $10,000 or less. And while most of the donations so far have been anywhere between $10 and $200, they are grateful for two large pledges… $5,000 from VISIT Ark City and $1,000 from L.G. Pike Construction. The annual fireworks display this year is set to begin at dusk on July 4th. Donations can be mailed or dropped off in person at the VISIT Ark City office on South Summit St. For more information, call (620) 442.0230.
