The City-Cowley County Health Department released a statement on Thursday that one person in the county has died due to COVID-19.

The patient was a male over the age of 60 with underlying health conditions. Test results confirmed he had COVID-19 as was announced on April 1, 2020.

City-Cowley County Public Health Officer Thomas Langer stated in a press release that the health department is deeply saddened by the loss of a community member. Langer sends his deepest condolences to his friends, family and loved ones. The Cowley County Health Department continues to make the health and safety of the community their number one priority and ask that all citizens to do what they can to stop the spread of COVID-19.

This includes the following:

  • Limiting public gatherings to 10 people or less.
  • Staying home.
  • Covering all coughs and sneezes.
  • Washing your hands for up to 20 seconds with soap and water.
  • The City-Cowley County Health Department is continuing to test individuals for COVID-19.
