The City of Ark City says exciting progress is happening at Wilson Park! The City Commission approved a $650,000 construction contract with Athco Acquisition Corp. during its Oct. 20 meeting, bringing us another step closer to a new playground at Wilson Park! The project is made possible through a $628,728 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), a generous $50,000 contribution from the V.J. Wilkins Foundation, and City funding. Commissioners also approved some additional touches, including graphics for a water tower-inspired playground feature and permanent signage recognizing the organizations and individuals helping bring this project to life. Construction is expected to be completed by March 30, 2027, with the playground opening to the public in spring 2027, weather and construction schedules permitting.
