Governor Laura Kelly now says her goal to start reopening the Kansas economy on May 3rd may now have to be delayed again. Kelly’s comments came yesterday, after hundreds of people protested around the Statehouse against a stay-at-home order from the Democratic governor that was set to expire May 3. Others held more and more similar protests across the country, claiming that such orders damage the economy, violate people’s civil rights, and violate the constitution. While other states continue to get more and more supplies and test kits from the federal government and private companies, Kelly has not been so successful… leaving us here in Kansas with some of the lowest testing rates of any state. Protesters Thursday said Kelly has gone too far in imposing restrictions and shutting down the economy. They held or posted signs with slogans such as “Choose Freedom. Reopen America.”
