Arkansas City Police continue to investigate a series of thefts involving suspects wearing face masks. One of them involved the theft of a wallet from a purse while a woman was shopping at Dillons. A short time later, the victim’s credit card was used to make a large purchase of gift cards and clothing at Walmart in Arkansas City. Investigators were able to recover video surveillance footage, however the images only show three suspects at Dillons who are face wearing masks and hats. Two of them also appear on surveillance footage at Walmart, but once again, they are wearing masks, which makes identifying them all but impossible. Police say the three are also apparently working together in other areas, and the do it by shielding one of the suspects while the victim is not looking, and that suspect then reaches into the open purse and takes items, then walks away… followed closely by the other two. They appear to be in the their 40s and may be between 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet in height, and may weigh between 230 and 260 pounds. The female suspect is shorter, possibly 5-2 to 5-6 and weighing 190 to 220 pounds, and appears to be in her late 50s or 60s. Police say they may be traveling in a newer model SUV, gray or silver in color. If you have any information, call Arkansas City Police at (620) 441-4444.
